The Visual Nexus solution, from OKI Electric in Japan, is a complete visual collaboration solution, enabling easy desktop conferencing.
In the heart of the system sits a meeting server that acts as a gatekeeper for users. It sets up desktop conferences by using a presence based user interface, mixes audio and video for multiparty calls and has a web based administration system.
Visual Nexus can be implemented with software endpoints on existing Windows computers or video conferencing room systems. By adding the Visual Nexus software endpoint to a Windows computer you create a powerful communication tool that can be used to join a video meeting and share data and applications.
Visual Nexus has four different methods for desktop conferencing, depending on exactly what the user needs to do.
- “Show and Play” video and still images through the high quality video system
- Present Microsoft Office documents to other meeting participants
- Share and collaborate on any application running on a participant’s computer (without requiring desktop share)
- Display documents to video conferencing equipment with the video H.239 standard
